Therese Brown was elected 2nd District Allen County Commissioner in November 2010. Brown has more than 30 years of experience in Allen County Government. Prior to becoming Commissioner, Brown served two terms as the Allen County Clerk of the Circuit and Superior Courts and was Allen County Auditor from 1995-2002. As Auditor, Brown was the Chief Financial Officer for the County, handling the budgetary and fiscal accountability of over 149 funds and an estimated $700 million in tax and revenue collections. Administration of taxation for all taxing units within In her eight years as Clerk of Courts, Brown led several initiatives designed not only to improve the efficiency of the office, but to make public records and valuable historic documents more accessible. In addition to the responsibility for administration of all official court records, she was accountable for collection and disbursement of courts costs, fees and Child Support payments in excess of $55 million annually. While performing the full time duties as Clerk and Auditor, Therese was elected by her peers to serve as President and Vice President of the Northern District Clerk’s Association and as Vice President of the Northeast District of the Auditors Association respectively. In October 2009, Therese was awarded the prestigious Outstanding Clerk of the Year Award for not only her efforts within her office but for the extensive and committed involvement with the statewide Clerk Association.
